Anger turned inwards is self loathing.
Anger turned outwards is judgmental hate.
Take the time to feel anger, and put it in its place.
Like a vial of cyanide, it remains innocuous until tampered with.
Don't let it engulf all that you are, for when it does it becomes you, and you lose yourself.
I think that this is often the way people feel about anger, but I believe that there exists a healthy kind of anger. I think of it as righteous anger.
ReplyDeleteThe kind of anger caused by evil causing you harm in the world. It's the sort of anger that is a drive to correct that which is unbearable. I think this is the kind of anger that fuels necessary revolutions. Sometimes anger is justified, and can even be a blessing when the outcome it causes is more positive than not. Certain things deserve your anger, and should not be ignored just because you think it's unhealthy to feel it.
I'm not advocating ignoring anger, instead I suggest that people take the time to understand their anger and learn where it belongs.
ReplyDeleteAs far as anger caused by evil causing harm, my only qualm with that is the nature of war is two different groups feeling "angry" that the other group is harmful to their way of life. When it's used as fuel anger begets anger.
I agree with you. Examine the anger (usually after the fact!!) and see where it comes from if possible, because anger is always a surface feeling or reaction. What lies below should reveal deaper feelings. I suggest sadness or grief may be the true heart emotion.
